ABOUT BARE

Bare follows a group of students at St. Cecilia's Catholic boarding school, who struggle with issues of sexuality, homosexuality, identity and faith.

Jason, the popular athlete, fears the consequences of his possible homosexual relationship with Peter being exposed, while Peter's urge to come out grows stronger.

As the group tries to put on a production of Romeo and Juliet, tensions flare, everyone begins to doubt themselves and God's path seems harder than ever to find.

Through gripping lyrics - accompanied by a sung pop/rock score and told by authentic characters, each with their own storyline - Bare touches his audience right in the heart.

The themes of this beautiful piece are topical and confrontational; subjects such as love, faith, hope and (homo)sexuality, but also uncertainty and fear are of all times and thus prove the social relevance of the musical.

PRODUCTION

On 3 and 4 June 2023, MAE Stage Productions will bring the coming-of-age rock musical “ BARE ” to the Gelderlandfabriek in Culemborg. With the moving story about the secret love between Peter and Jason, MAE musically ushers in pride month June. The performance is in Dutch.

With text and music by Jon Hartmere and Damon Intrabartolo and in the translation by Toine Paauwe , MAE Stage Productions presents another impressive performance in which love, faith, hope and (homo)sexuality, but also uncertainty and fear are central.
